Varietals- 90% Barbera, 10% Syrah
Vineyards- Shake Ridge Ranch and The Dalton Ranch Vineyards
Aging/Copperage- 18 months in 25% new French oak, 75% neutral oak
Production- The 2015 Barbera was gently crushed with approximately 25% whole berries left intact. The grapes were fermented in small bins for a period of 10 days. The fresh young wine was then racked via gravity into small French oak casks for completion of fermentation and the duration of a secondary bacterial fermentation. After about three months, the wines were racked and then put back into barrel for an extended aging period. After 18 months the wine was removed from barrel and bottled with minimal filtration and no fining.
Scott's Notes- The 2015 vintage was heavily affected by a third consecutive drought year. The concentrated fruit from the low yields is apparent at first glimpse and taste of this new NH wine…our very first Barbera.
